'I Got your Love' was recorded in 2003 along with some other songs (such as 'That's the Way' and 'You're so Beautiful' and few other unreleased ones that sit in DONNA's vault. They were meant to be part of a new album that DONNA was working for when Epic decided to terminate her contract. (Memo to self: boicott Epic Records). We know some of the songs have been released as extra tracks in some of DONNA's recent anthologies, but 'I Got your Love' somehow found it's way into one episode of "Sex in The City" with that frumpy gal Sara Jess Parker. Many DONNA fans had no clue and heard this bits of it and immediately recognized *the* voice. The DONNA fan sites were abuzz with speculation and very public request for the song to be released as a single. Finally, once Universal Music picked up DONNA's repertoire... the wheels started to turn. A decision was made to release the song as a single based on fan feedback, and also as an excuse to sell DONNA's new summer tour of 2005 (the one Inspector57 and I attended in Detroit last year). Since DONNA is not formally singed with Universal to work on and release a full album collection.. a decision was then made to make the IGYL single available exclusively thru ITunes.com, much to the delight of those of us IPod owners.. It Immediately became a hot download and with a suceesful tour underway.. the powers that be at Universal commissioned several well known remixers to remix the song and sent DONNA to the studio to record some new vocals to be added to the expanded versions of the song, but not before DONNA and Bruce Roberts allowed Universal the exclusive licencing rights to release the song. This was a strike of genious for us DONNA fans, because while the song was rated highly, many thought the original version of it lacked a more fierce tone... Enter Ralphi Rosario, Eddie Baez, and L.E.X. who immediately took on the challenge...coming back with what many DONNA fans concider to be DONNA's finests and most crafted remixes EVER! IGYL actually scored high on several radio and club lists but due to it's very limited commercial release, the sales on this single issue barely had an effect on more prominent charts like Billboard's. You should know that DONNA's executive producer on this single release project, Bruce Roberts, was also DONNA's singing partner in one of DONNA's most underappreciated duets "Whenever There is Love", the love song from Stallone's tunnel disaster movie Daylight, and the video for that song appears exclusively in that movie's special edition DVD, the only place where it was commercially released. Now.. rumour has it that Mr. Roberts also wrote another little song for DONNA, which she turned down and was later recorded by another well known diva who had a three years long farewell tour some time ago... The song is "When the Money's Gone", and you all know who that Diva is...babe.

TDLFAN, thank you so much for taking the time to share that information here. Even after our conversations about the song, I did not know all that. How hopeful-making it is to hear that her recordings are leaking out, and that listener demand basically caused the printing of one of my favorite CD singles ever. And I had NO idea that Donna had a shot at "When The Money's Gone"! From first listen, that has been my favorite song from that other diva's "Living Proof" album. I LOVE Cher's rendition, but I can imagine Donna taking it to a whole new level. DO IT, DONNA! If only in concert! DO IT! And now, word to all the readers... Granted that I am a big Donna Summer fan, but I wouldn't steer you wrong just to promote her. "I Got Your Love" is a fierce dance tune. And, as TDLFAN said, every remix on the CD single is great. The next time you're ordering from Amazon or shopping at Virgin, drop a copy of "I Got Your Love" into your basket. Read it now, thank me later.
