Ask a CM that's near Paradise Park? Ask a CM in the Blue Cellar? Ask one of those guys in hip waders floatin' in the bay? LOL Over the years, I've been lucky to stumble into an unscheduled showing of Fantasmic, a soft opening of Captain EO back in the '80s and extended park hours for a Von's company party where they didn't issue any wristbands and a CM volunteered that no one would be kicked out at the "posted" closing time. Figure I'm due for another lucky moment next week? Any advice for me? Thanks!

I have always thought that a Soft Opening was when a ride or attraction is open to the public before its actually opening date, what you are describing sounds more like test runs. Also bear in mind that Grad Nites are happening throughout these month and the next so it may just be closing early for that.

No fireworks or Fantasmic performances are scheduled while we're there, so it would be easy to camp out at DCA awhile if they didn't kick us out. Maybe if we keep ordering at the Cove Bar... Hee hee. ;-)

The school administrators never explained what they did, but we ended up at Belmont Park on Mission Beach. This was literally right before the park was pretty much condemned in December 1976... It was memorable in it's perceived danger. One of my girlfriends thought we were surely going to die riding the Giant Dipper). LOL! The second day of our trip was spent at the San Diego Zoo - infinitely better than Belmont Park, but definitely NOT Disneyland. To it's credit, Belmont Park has since recovered nicely and the Giant Dipper is a truly FAB classic, old time coaster that I've enjoyed several times since it was completely restored.
