So, the local Video Only store (which everyone around here raves about, great ccustomer service, etc.) has it for $1599 but will take $100 off since it's not in stock and I have to wait 3 days for it. That makes it $1499. I can order it online at Circuit City for $1399, and there is a discount code saving me another 10%, making it $1260. Easy, get it from Circuit CIty and save $240, right? But I know Circuit City is struggling and some folks think they are going to go out of business, and others complain about their horrible customer service. So... does the value of "great customer service" and the fact that the store will still be around if I have issues with the TV make it worth the extra $$? And yes, I have thought of seeing if they will match CC's price, but I am doubtful, since it is a significant difference and they are already knocking $100 off. And one more thing...extended warranty or no? Thanks! These are the times I really need a DH!!!

The best thing would be to pay the extra $240 and get it from the Video Only store. Having said that, I shamefully admit that I would probably buy it from Circuit City and save the $$. You almost never, never have problems with a TV so the quality of service really doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Of course if you are going to need some advice on connecting it to a home theater sound system or similar setup questions then you may want to go with Video Only. If you are confident you can do the setup yourself you might as well save the money. I hate giving this advice. I would really like to say never buy anything from Circuit City. But the $240 would be too much for me to pass up.

Well I went back online to print the CC offer so I could take it to Video Only, and the 10% off code is apparently no longer valid. So that means I only save $100 by going to CC. I'm going to go to Video Only and see if they'll match CC's price. If not, I will probably buy it there anyway. My gut just tells me to avoid CC, and maybe it's fate that the 10% deal is over and I'm supposed to go to Video Only .

I don't think they are about to go broke. You have to know what you want. We have a video only store here. I guess they are a bit better. Make sure whatever you get fits where you want to put it. What are you doing for HDTV? If this is an HDTV, you might wish to look into DirectTV. That has the most HD channels right now.

Of course, I could have settled for any number of 37" plasma or LCD tv's (for alot less $$), but I have 21 and 16 yr. old DS's who think bigger is always better . I did go back to Video Only today with my Circuit City info and they honored CC's price. I got it for $1399 (msrp is $1899), so YAY!
