I think I've felt a connection with him since I've seen Knight's Tale so many times, and have enjoyed him so much in that movie. It's like you know someone when you make that connection with them. I also haven't seen every one of his movies, because they were mostly not my type of movie. I loved him in The Patriot though, it was so sad I couldn't watch the whole thing.

I just watched it again recently- the blooper reel for that movie is hilarious and shows his real comedic side. "Knights Tale" is also one of my favorite "pick me up" movies. He had such a unique smile that was absolutely contagious- how could you see that smile and not mirror the same. I loved Ellen's breif tribute to him yesterday- it had me laughing and then in tears. Heath will be certainly missed by so many. I think sometimes it's difficult as fans to rationalize our grief b/c we didn't "know" the actor personally. But some actors just make that connection with thier audience; it's what truely good actors are able to do with their own charisma. Even Heath's father said he was "loved by many". I think he was referring to his fans as well. I haven't felt this sad about a celebrity's death since the untimely death of River Pheonix. My heart and prays go out to Heath's family- esp. little Matilda.

I never by People magazine, or In Touch, or anything like that. I knew nothing about him or his personal life. But I did recognize him as an astounding actor. After Brokeback Mountain, I thought he could do anything. If he'd been announced to play the Joker before Brokeback, I would've thought "Huh? That's the worst casting choice I've ever heard." But since it was after, I thought it was brilliant and I'm excited to see what he did with it.

I can't say I ever cared for Jack Nicholson's Joker (who, in hindsight, isn't too far removed from Cesar Romero's Joker, in my opinion). Just the few snippets I saw make me think, "Jack? Jack who?" From what I've seen, HL's Joker fits very well into the "realistic" setting that Christopher Nolan created for these Batman movies, and he's damned frightening.

I was very skeptical about him playing the Joker at first, especially since Joker's my favorite Bat-villain & Mark Hamill's performance is ingrained in my mind, but on seeing that last trailer, I was completely blown-away. I had goose-bumps all over my arms from how frightening Heath was. I love him in A Knight's Tale, too. I need to get around to finishing Brokeback Mountain, and I think I'll watch Brothers Grimm this weekend.
