If you combined it with the Calico Mine Train, then you'd have a pretty close approximation of Big Thunder. Splash Mountain reminds me a LOT of Knott's Beary Tales...THAT was a close comparison...just without the water.

A section of the ceiling collapsed, but it didn't hit anyone and no one was injured. The ride was closed for almost a year while they made repairs. And the Knott's log ride is just as sad and tired as the rest of their old rides. I rode the Mine Train ride at Knott's on my visit a couple months ago, and the thing was so pathetic it was painful to see. We were embarassed for the poor kid driving the train and trying to make it seem fun and entertaining.

When Timber Mountain crew members are working a 100% they sure can load and unload those logs at what seems a faster rate than the Splash Mountain team.

"Timber Mountain, long one of Knott's most popular attractions, must pass an inspection by California's Department of Occupational Safety and Health before it can reopen. No target date has been set. Water leakage inside the 75-foot-high Timber Mountain structure caused part of the ceiling to erode, said Knott's spokeswoman Jennifer Blazey. Some pieces of the ceiling fell Feb. 21 while the ride was in operation. About 15 patrons were checked for injuries, but no one was seriously hurt, Blazey said."
