My wife and I are pretty committed to doing this with our daughter, and so far we've done pretty well. There are only a couple of days a month where we eat after she goes to bed.

And I use my china each night.

On the weekends, we usually eat out on Saturday, and watch football on Sunday but we have a huge TV that we can turn so that we can still eat at the table and enjoy the night game.

If ever we have kids, I have no intention of changing our eating habits.

My 6th grader asks often if he can eat in his room, in the media room, in some other part of the house, and the answer is always no. He is at the age of beginning to pull away and do his own thing, which tells me my time of influence is almost over with him. But the answer, even at 17, will still be no.

As an adult, I own a home with my mom and aunt, my grandma lives with us. We still sit down and eat together every night Sunday through Thursday.

It's a very important part of us being a family. Our time to share the day, talk world events, family stuff, etc.

Similary - we started having a game night on Sunday nights last winter. Must have started from radio Disneys family fun night. Anyway, we got away from that in the summer, but the boys keep asking us when we can start it up again. They love it!! (Probably will this weekend)

So I have started this tradition with Holly. We have the time slot before the boys. We eat yogurt with a bagel

My youngest always makes us laugh but it is amazing how much information you can get from kids by just having casual conversation daily.
