So what WDW moment goes down in your vacation archives as the most magical, the most special, the most memorable? I've been several times and though I spent my honeymoon there, my one year anniversary there, and have brought my son twice-there is one moment that sort of outshines them all. It was Sept 19th, 2001. Our trip had been delayed due to 'grounded planes' and the World Trade Center attack. It was a girl trip, just me and some girlfriends looking to blow off steam. There were very few people there but the ones who were seemed so determined to have a great time that it was infectious. We were at EPCOT around the time of illuminations and had just finished sushi in Japan. The ground was wet and steamy after a short rain and my friends all decided not to stay for illuminations but to walk back to the BWV instead. Since we had all bought monogrammed glasses at the Germany glassware shop, I offered to go pick them up alone and it was a great decision. I took my time, picked up the glasses, and watched Illuminations by myself. Something about being alone, watching the fireworks, smelling the wet pavement and smoke mingle in the air, and taking a long leisurely walk back to my hotel just stays with me. I can still smell it to this day. And all was right w/ the world...in spit of this horrible thing that had happened just days before. Anyone else care to share?

We were all so disappointed, because we had been hanging our hopes on one last visit to Epcot. We decided to go despite the weather, and, lo and behold, it stopped raining just about the time we pulled into the parking lot. The park was practically deserted, and there was even a rainbow above the monorail. It was a perfect, picturesque ending to a fabulous trip.

Fabulous fireworks over the Seven Seas Lagoon and "America on Parade". WDW has never been as great as on those two particular days, and sadly, it appears we'll never see that quality of show at WDW ever again.

It was the most magical day of my DD's life so far.
