JimHillmedia.com is reporting today that author J.K. Rowling has signed a letter of intent to discuss the possibility of Harry Potter and a Disney theme park venture. Quotage: And after months of negotiations, Rowling finally signed a letter of intent. Which then awarded the Walt Disney Company the right to begin preliminary development of a theme park-related project featuring the Harry Potter characters. Please note: This does not mean a formal agreement has ...>> And the Jim Hill article: http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/ jim_hill/archive/2006/10/16/6221.aspx It is from Jim Hill so i'm not so sure how accurate it is, but I was wondering if anyone has any insights/ideas?

I know the chances of this happening are slim, but it just doesn't seem practical that they would make a Harry Potter ride when there is a very successful movie franchise of the same character base at the same time with another company. It seems to make significanlty less sense than the Star Tours and Indy collaborations, which still really throw people off.

WED has designed building and attactions for other groups over their history, however, I don't think that they would do that for HP. I can see severals reasons for them to sign a "letter of intent" for Harry Potter. The first reason is to simply build a ride like they say.... However, another reason is to stop any other park from getting the rights and building a ride or whole park around HP.

I suppose it's only a letter of intent, so no deal has been made, but I can't imagine Warner Bros. sitting idly by. It's not uncommon for Disney to aquire rights to something and then sit on it (the OZ stories, for example), but they really don't need Harry Potter at this point...they should focus on their own properties and not cause even more confusion about why Harry Potter is in the parks.

Plus this wasn't the first time Jim Hill talked about a Harry Potter themed ride so I think Jim Hill could be saying true facts because he has discussed it before.
