First what?!! First Dean Jones Movies? First Peter Ustinov movies? It's funny how myopic we can be about the things we like. I have a feeling this woman saw that film as a young girl, and it was her first experience with Disney. She probably figured the Company was new at the time!

A couple was staring at a piece of art for Mickey's 80th, and the woman said very loudly: "Has Disneyland really been around for 80 years?!". Her husband and she discussed it for a bit, and I assumed that they figured it out- this particular piece made it clear that it was Mickey's 80th. But they eventually went over to the CM there and the husband asked, "Um, Is Mickey's birthday based on Walt Disney's birthday?" The CM answered "No, why do you ask?".

Guest:Well then how can Mickey be 80?
CM: His first film was released in 1928.

The guests just kind of looked at each other and then walked on. No thank you. I'm not sure they understood.

:) It's funny. She must've been around my age, huh? I loved Blackbeard's Ghost...loved Dean Jones...and absolutely ADORE Peter Ustinov.... How cute!

DH is pretty much on the same wavelength, but in a 6th degree of separation kind of way: his first crush on celebrities were co-stars of Dean Jones. The blonde girl who rode Aspercel in The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit and Suzanne Pleshette, from Blackbeard's Ghost. xoxo

Yeah, because he created him the day he was born. He's clever like that.

STil, everyone knows that the hot Disney chicks of the time were Pollyanna's maid and Deborah Walley. She's the pink of perfection and stuff.

You liked Summer Magic, too?!?!?! Bless your little croc heart!

I always had something against Deborah Walley. She tried to be Gidget in "Gidget Goes Hawaiian" and that just didn't work for me. :(

I didn't know she died in 2001. How sad!

A CM working an exhibit like that needs to be a sort of docent. We on this board know the timelines (Disney was born in 1901, Mickey Mouse first appeared in 1928 and Disneyland was built in 1955), but others clearly do not.

Based on this story, I kinda doubt those dates would have made an impression on the couple in question. :)
