(his 1st bowel movement) and had to be suctioned and ended up in the newborn ICU. Though terrifying and heartbreaking for the new mom and dad we are assured that he will he fine. Still, he has to stay in the NICU until Friday to be given antibiotics IV. My daughter is released tomorrow and as we live closer to the hospital than they do she will probably end up staying here along with my daughter and her two who are flying in from Seattle tomorrow. So I will have a houseful. Please keep good thoughts for this tiny little guy who has no idea why instead of being with his family is stuck in an isolette with tubes and needles and monitors stuck to him. And for his older brother and sister who are being torn from their normal routine, shuffled among relatives and can only see their new baby brother for a few minutes each day.

The frustrating thing is that everyone has admitted that he does not need and never did need to be in the NICU. It was all precautionary. But once a course of treatment has started they have to finish it. (I think things like, to make $2k a day, avoid any possible lawsuit, stay in control) but I told my mom and my daughter that it is much better to have a baby in NICU that does not need to be there than one who does. We have seen some very sick babies in there so we count our blessings and the days until he can come home.
