It's a far cry from hosting the Wonderful World of Color on national television in their tour guide outfit, that's for sure.

Of course, this is due in large part because I go to a lot of media events. But the Ambassadors also participate in a lot of community events, as well as cast activities. Another reason I see them, I suppose, is because I know who they are and what they look like. So the other night, when I was with the family boarding the monorail at the DtD station, I noticed it was Ambassador Quinn Shurian in the monorail uniform. I introduced him to the family and asked what he was doing. Turns out the Ambassadors get to cross train anywhere in the resort their schedule allows, and the monorail is a popular request. I just saw the two newest Ambassadors cheering on community volunteers last Sunday at the finale of CHOC Walk-- despite the fact that their official duties don't begin until January.

And yet, aside from the selection ceremony, you just don't see or hear about them. I couldn't even begin to tell you what the current Ambassadors look like, but from your mention of Quinn I assume that one of them is a guy this year. It's just kind of odd is all. I haven't watched it in awhile, but that one World of Color episode with Marcia Miner (I even remember her name!) introducing the new Tomorrowland just cracks me up every time. She's so proper and feminine and delightfully vapid, I just howl with laughter on the couch. And there she was back in 1967 as a local gal working as a Disneyland tour guide, in every living room in America on Sunday night and in living color no less! You just don't get that anymore. Good to know the Ambassadors are at least out there doing stuff, and are seen by the people who at least know them or should know them.
