Has the little tidbit above always been in place and is never enforced?<< Not that it is right, but Disney can not legally ask you if you have a dietary condition, so as long as you are not going to bring in a picnic that foods 40, I don't think Disney cares much.

Then they would just direct you to the picnic area.

But they can say no. They can tell you to put it in a locker near the picnic area. Most of the time they don't. And like many others, I have seen people in both parks with full on picnics-including 2ltr sodas, cold cuts, loafs of bread. The most annoying part of all that is when they don't clean up after themselves very well and use the condiments from the park.

Premade Individual sandwiches that are spread throughout the group - OK (Note the comment about being spread out, having 10 sandwiches in the same bag is a no-no). A Bucket of Chicken - NO! Chicken in smaller containers/bags - OK (once again, it is SMART to not have one person carry all the food). No Hard Coolers. No Glass containers. (Some exceptions for Baby Food and Medically needed items). No Alcohol. But if it is "snacks" and not a picnic or major meal, you should be fine. (as mentioned above, it is up to the CM checking your bags to make the final determination. Just make sure the food is spread out over the entire group, and that it is not a LARGE amount in a single bag.
