That said, we saw 'Mamma Mia!' at the Schubert Theatre in LA a few years ago and thought it was glib, silly and overall, kind of dumb. I thought the plot surrounding the existing 'ABBA' songs was very cute, but didn't care for the way the production decided to be 'cute' about it -- rather than just playing it straight and letting the music work as real songs.

If you are into traditional shows, Jubilee at Ballys and Folies at the Tropicana are both old style Vegas shows with the showgirls in head dresses and such. The Scintas at the RIO are good too. Have a great time in our city!

"Mystere" another Cirque show is at Treasure Island at I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's less spendy than the one at Bellagio. Everyone who I've talked that's seen Blue Man Group gave it rave reviews. The show at Bally's is "Jubilee" and has the trademark showgirs, beautiful dancers, really good production number, they even sink the titanic. It's a great value for the price.

I saw Elton John the last time he was at Caesars Palace and I still love him even though he is getting a little old. I also saw Barry Manilow recently and I too loved him. Mamma Mia was my moms favorite but she is a big ABBA fan. If you don't like their music, avoid that show completely. If you like impersonators, Legends at the Imperial Palace is pretty good and Le Cage is always good for a laugh. Penn and Teller are ok, not one of my favorites though.
Originally Posted By xrayvision If you can afford two shows, I'd see Avenue Q and KA! KA is a Cirque du Soliel show that opened last November 2004 and it visually rocks. KA is VERY different from the other Cirque shows in that it has a storyline/plot and it's presentation is more artsy-theater vs circus-like in presentation. The gigantic moving stages that elevate and flip-over vertically in mid-air while the performers are still dancing on them is incredible. The visual effects projected onto the vertical moving stages and scrims are amazing. The adventurous story of twins who get separated from their family after a brutal village attack is beautiful, exciting and odd/bizarre while sometimes a little slow moving in a couple spots. But, the sets, musical score, huge moving stages, spectacular stunts, breathtaking and almost unbelievable choreography, costumes and high-tech visuals will have you saying "WOW!" PS - The theater, a spectacle in itself that was especially designed for this show, has a huge inhouse bar inside the main entrance. The theater seats are equipped with cup-holders to hold your drinks during the show..and each seat has digital speakers built inside the headrests. I don't want to overhype "KA" as it is a very different type of production (VERY ARTSY). But, it did really amaze my family visually, sparking quite a bit of conversation after the show, and we enjoy seeing a lot of shows.

Haven't seen LeReve (also at the Wynn - the latest Cirque production) yet, but heard they're still working out some bugs. Blue Man Group is awesome, too.
