It's an impressionistic and fun celebration of the season and the spirit of the Bash. Good for re-living this Bash and/or for playing in anticipation of the next. Let me know by emailing lpsecretpals@hotmail.com. Or click on my screenname and email that address. $2 for the disc and a couple of bucks for mailing, or whatever you can spare. If that's nothing, that's okay.

The version that's on the Bash soundtrack is an uncredited, unlisted cut on Capitol Records' 1996 "Christmas Cocktails" CD, which is part of Capitol's wonderful "UltraLounge" series. The Toys For Tots program was founded in 1947. In 1948 it gained the cute graphic logo that it still uses today: a whimsical red three-car train (engine, boxcar, caboose), each car emblazoned with one of the words in "Toys For Tots." That logo was drawn by Walt Disney.

And maybe it's finally time for me to post the answers to the little quiz, in case anyone was curious! (Of course, most of the answers became obvious when the list was revealed.) 1) Who is the vocalist on the first cut of the CD? "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" is performed by Andy Williams. 2) ________ drew the logo for _______ in 1948. It's still being used today. The familiar Toys For Tots logo -- three whimsical red train cars -- was designed and donated by Walt Disney. 3) I messed up. Which country is NOT represented by a vocalist on the Soundtrack: a) Romania b) Canadia c) United Statesia d) Australia Given the Bash participant list, I should SO have included an Australian artist, but didn't. My bad. 4) Who is the only artist to be featured on two tracks on the disc? Donna Summer. 5) Which two cuts are lifted from movie soundtracks? "Dreamcatcher" is from the 2000 film, "Naturally Native." (Had anyone ever heard this song?) "More" is from "Dick Tracy." 6) Which featured vocalist was a lead performer in a Disney Broadway production in the late 1990's? Debbie Gibson starred as Belle in "Beauty and The Beast" on Broadway. 7) Which recording appears on the disc only as a remix of the original? Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver." 8) On one cut on the CD, three performers identify themselves by name. But a fourth musical entity performs on that track as well. Who? Capitol Records asked its artists to contribute support to the Marines' Toys For Tots campaign. We heard Peggy Lee, Nat "King" Cole and Nancy Wilson introduce themselves. The Chipmunks were uncredited. 9) On track 21, a well-known LP'er has a featured non-vocal role. Who is she? Warren Beatty had collected wonderful elements for the "More" number in Dick Tracy: a great song written by Stephen Sondheim; a perfect performer for it in Madonna; and incredible sets, costumes and visuals. But something seemed to be lacking as he watched the daily rushes of that scene. He finally figured out what "punch" it was missing. He got on the horn. Three days later TapDanceMom flew down to LA to foley the fancy steps that make that production number complete. 10) Who played the flamenco guitar? Ottmar Liebert.
