Anything else I should consider and don't say The Exorcist not scary at all.

Funny my kids ( 14 and 23 ) think the black and white flicks actually make them scarier than they should be because they are so used to color everything.

Van Helsing also a scary flick for this time of year - not a great movie, but has a lot of monsters in it

I'm a big fan of all the old Universal Monster movies as well. I'm not big into the scary - probably the Burton Sleepy Hollow is as far as I go.

The Ichabod short has got to be my favourite though. (Monster House is kinda cool too.)

We just picked up Monster Squad, the old 80s film after hearing comparisons to Goonies. It's cool to see variations of the classic monsters, but it didn't really grab me too much.

Wait Until Dark (Audrey Hepburn) first saw it in 8th grade with my Mom; Dad was in Viet Nam; spent most of the movie with my face in her lap....scared the holy goodness out of me! I am such a chicken!

And, it's ALWAYS a good time for Ghostbusters! xoxo

That's about it...I'm not good for scary movies...

Excellent film noir. They give it four stars.

Sigh... remind me to loan you "Disney's High School Chainsaw Massacre Musical" one of these days...

I for one shall add the original Dawn of the Dead to the list. :)

It includes not the first, but the best, version of "the ventriloquist who gets taken over by his dummy" (with Michael Redgrave), a great story about a haunted mirror, and the terrific linking story that pulls it all together. Other sequences are less good, but none are bad, including the comic relief (!) section. The "hide and seek" sequence is good for a quick shiver too.

Took awhile to get over that. The "House on Haunted Hill" remake, with Geoffrey Rush, is kind of creepy. It's not that great but it has a bit of ick factor going for it.

"The Ring" is my favorite creepy movie. Hated the sequel.

"Night of the Demons" cracks me up. One of the characters does something very interesting with lipstick.

"Witchboard" used to be one of our ultimate favorites (my girlfriends). It's got Tawny Kitean and Patch from Days of Our Lives. (I don't watch soaps anymore but DOOL was my favorite back in the day.)

"Fright Night" is another funny one. Roddy McDowell (sp?).

My daughter hates scary movies and tends to hang out in the hallway bugging us when we try to watch them. (She won't stay in her if we're watching scary movies even though she spends hours in there when we're watching stuff she finds boring.)
