IMO, the Chinese is much more iconic and well recognized; Disney did a pretty good job of educating folks about the Carthay Circle, since it was essentially unknown to the general population before they announced they were building a replica of it. I'd love to se the area return to a more period-specific look, but I just don't see the need to swap out one vintage movie palace for another, when that money could be better spent elsewhere in WDW.

The Carthay Circle in the Studios is much, much smaller than the DCA building, and really only serves at the facade of part of a shop. Given its positioning within the park, it really isn't even an iconic structure, as it just looks like another storefront. That area of the park has several old theaters scaled down and turned into shops, so it just sort of blends into the crowd. If they wanted to make a high-end dining experience like what they have in DCA, it woudl probably be easiest to just do a makeover at the Brown Derby.

The wand on the side of SSE was considered an icon for Epcot, yet that was mercifully removed. Here's hoping that they'll come to their senses about the dumb hat. It doesn't fit the time period, it's way out of scale with everythign around it, and a giant hat in the middle of a plaza just doesn't make any sense in the first place.

(or is there any chance that it's actually a functioning water tower too? that could explain why it's still there)
