According to Disneyland.com and D23, the fireworks show is exclusive for those who pay extra to stay in the park for the halloween party. Disneyland.com confirms this as any date where the halloween party is not going on, the nightly fireworks spectacular is Remember Dreams Come True (why not at least continue Magical).

In other news, Disneyland rakes in more money this year by finally realizing that AP holders will actually pay more to see things. (Not that I'm against profits because I'm not, but really Disney can't you cut us a little slack. YOUTUBE here I come!)

However, I must say that I approve of this venue change and price hike. 100%.

This higher priced ticket most likely has just made it possible that during the fireworks show, I might not get coffee spilled on me and my toes run over for the umpteenth time by a stroller while trying to view Jack Skellington's bubble head.

The price might be a little steep, but so be it. Thank goodness I might actually enjoy a whole fireworks show without incident.

Also, from what we are being told, DL will offer even more trick-or-treating stations that DCA did, so if you have kids, this is a good thing. Or you can use all the candy to give out on Halloween if you don't have kids. That's probably what I'll end up doing.

    So, it's a win-win for me.

So I'm not really sad I won't see them this year. Also we usually go on the weekends so closing of DLP for the event doesn't really affect me.

BUT I understand how a new passholder, someone on vacation during that time, or someone who missed the fireworks this year and is hoping to see it this year would be upset. I'd be more upset knowing I'd have to vacate the park early if I didn't pay for the special ticket than I would be about the fireworks, though.

As someone who is vacationing from Australia at that time, I also approve of it. This means that we will definitely get to see the Halloween fireworks without the crowds reported last year which, if I remember correctly, almost caused the closing of the gates. Also if you are planning a vacation anywhere at anytime then you should be researching the place you're visiting at least a little and DL has given a fair bit of prior notice to these changes :)

LOL. I hear you. You know, a little exclusivity for a fee isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If I paid extra just to see the fireworks, because it sure wouldn't be for the candy, I'd be, let's just say, EXTREMELY UPSET if the fireworks were cancelled. So, I'm not going to take a chance this year. As much as I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see the Halloween fireworks, paying extra is not in my budget.

This has already been hashed out on other threads. I just do not understand charging for the fireworks.
I really worry about this trend. Will Christmas get hit next? Those fireworks shows can get awfully crowded too.
It will be my DVD from last year for me this year.
    It makes me sad.

I don't understand the thinking that they are charging extra for the fireworks. They are charging extra for Mickey's Halloween Party, the fireworks are just being included as part of the Party.

I don't fault DL for charging for a hard ticket event though. It's part of a commercial operation. I understand it. I've gone to many, and have had great times. When it would bother me is if they closed the park earlier than usual to charge for the events.

I appreciate that Disney has given enough notice of this inclusive party to give visiting guests a chance to plan accordingly.

Heck, when we visit WDW every other Xmas, we plan our finances around the Xmas party, which is priced even more than DL's Halloween shindig. We even allow for the days when the parks close early and plan other places to visit, like a hotel restaurant, etc. It's worth it to us to plan ahead for it.

I will amend this to say the event I do have NO problem with closing the park early for are the cast parties in December. I'm glad that Disney makes the park available to the cast who work so hard all year long so that "I" can have a great vacation/Disney experience.

I can see your point. I am paying for 3, because our 4th didn't really enjoy the Halloween Party last year. I wasn't sure about the price either, but it is an longer this year, and in Disneyland.

I also sat down and figured out how much dinner at the Blue Bayou would be for us now that both my children are over 9 (which I consider an odd age to decide to charge them as an adult for food).
    $30 Average Dinner price
    $3 Drinks
    $8 Dessert
    $41 Per Person

    $164 Approx Total
    $14 Approx Tax
    $32 Tip, 18%

    $210

We voted and decided to skip the Blue Bayou and do the Halloween Party this year. Yes we will still have to buy dinner, but it will be at one of the quick service counters instead.
