If they had wanted to add it to the regular Mansion, they probably would have done it while taking HMH down last year, when they added the floating Leota, lightening pictures in the preshow, and new carpet in several areas. They were adding a lot of stuff then, so it would make more sense to have it added during that time than now. Also, they usually add stuff while they are taking HMH down, not putting it up, so I think it will probably leave soon.

It is here to stay, as it is partly a safety issue, and partly a maintenance issue.

Have you noticed that when you get to the lower level, the pathway you walk on is also a solid surface. (with carpeting on the sides behind the chains.

It is there for at least a few years. Other places in the park are also losing carpet, such as the watch store on Main Street just did.

So I guess they did that during the Holiday overlay so.... I think it's perminant(sp)

Join in my demand for wall-to-wall carpeting! It's the way Walt wanted it!

The Haunted Mansion cycles through 2,100 Guests per hour, and on rainy days after 30 minutes the carpet is soaking wet and the Foyer and stretch rooms smell like a dozen wet dogs. It's gross.

And this wood floor was supposed to have been installed last year. But there was quite a bit of drama with the project manager that was handling that rehab last year, and needless to say this new floor was one of several things that didn't get done by that guy. He was replaced. And now the floor has been replaced too, finally.

I think it looks nice, and much classier than the 1960's grammar school carpeting originally installed there. You can find so many amazing commercial-grade products on the market now that can easily mesh with a themed environment. It would be stupid of WDI to not take adavantage of that, and instead just keep re-installing the same 1960's plain-jane carpet every 5 years just because that's what has always been there.
