Just watched this year's Xmas parade broadcast on ABC. Not bad... and I loved watching in HD format. While I can do without Kelly Rippoff and Regis, I found this year's effort to be watchable. However, I must ask... why do they have to add so much stuffing to the parade itself? Seems like the TV version of the parade is so much...brighter, bigger and better in a TDL kind of way... Makes you realize how undercooked the actual parade really is when you watch it at the park. Then having all those segments from CA's DL makes you realize even more how much nicer things are for our fan friends in Anaheim... Why can't they just make this the DISNEYLAND Parade special instead of WDW's? I would not mind that.

Oh well... just a thought.. At least some of the musical numbers were enjoyable, and the set decor at the castle (again.. much better than the actual/regular castle stage set we get to see any day we are there during the holidays) was very nicely done, with both coasts having a similar decor that provided some continuity in the look of the whole show. My aunt could not tell when we are at WDW or DL... which speaks volumes since most people probably would not.

Anyways... while there was a fair amount of promotional stuff thrown in.. it didn't feel as bad as in previous years...

My rating for the show: B.

PS- Cold someone please pull the plug on screeching Patty Labelle? If I wanted to hear alarms going off, I would have gone to my local Fire dept.

But unless they do the parade live, with actual park guests standing alongside, who weren't picked by the production company for how they look (and how much cheap Disney crap they're wearing), I just don't feel like I'm missing much!

However, DL's shots of Fantasyland, including Storybookland Canal Boats, looked very impressive with bright green shrubery and blue water. Maybe DL should shot their parade shots from Fantasyland rather than Mainstreet?

Wow TD great minds think alike. That is what my husband said. We had it on while we were getting things ready for dinner.

I thought the parade was very nice for what it was. It's a parade with some side entertainment thrown in.

It was indeed better than last year. I'm sure it was a great distraction for the wee ones while Mom & Dad picked up the wrapping paper. And honestly isn't that probably all it's supposed to be anyway.;)

Merry Christmas all and stay safe.

What do you mean, "expect Disney to go to the world"? I don't get why Disney is going to the world, or whatever you wrote.

I did like how they introduced the mirror castle float with Munedo as "infamous," since it never seems to go away. I just wish it was a little more realistic with the way the parade is shown. I didn't mind switching between coasts, except that it looked like it was sunset in DL, which didn't make any sense if they were even trying to make this feel remotely live. Overall, it was cheesy, but pretty nice. (I also thought that Miley forgot to put on pants before getting on stage)

Back then the parade was hosted by Joan London and I think it was the dad from Growing Pains. That Regis guy was just a stooge who reported from on the ground on Main Street, before he got to ride Anne Robinson's coat tails.

I taped a few of the parades and always remember the scarecrows. Their legs were down the pole behind them, IIRC and its was kinda neat. I erased them decades back but they satisfied a young Disney geek, living in Australia for whom the parks were like in another dimension.

So, much is getting updated and reshot, and along with that, the Goodyear blimp was floating around WDW getting shots for the parade.

DL? Not so much. If DCA gets a major rebranding, i'd expect to see new footage with better colors and such too. I doubt we'll ever see the Pier from above (the shot they always use) for DCA as soon as they finish retheming that area.
