And what view do you actually get? We usually spend all day at Disneyland so we'll get to enjoy the view in the morning, then late at night.

We'll be spending 5 nights there so the extra $150 will come in handy to cover our dining expenses. Or should we just splurge?

I would be tempted to get the view rooms in that case. But if your days are going to be really long then I probably wouldn't bother and use the extra money for something else.

Are the views nice at night or isn't there much to see? What view is it of actually? Disneyland, Downtown Disney?

    Thanks for the advice!

Last year we did pay for the view - the first room was in the building right next to the Movie theater - we were on the 4th floor - so our view was of the side of the Movie theater mainly... I was assured it was a view room - after some persuasion we were moved to the Dream tower 10th floor... Now that was a view!

But I know their definition of "View Room" can be flexible, shall we say. We got a view room at the GCH once and the view was essentially of the top of another wing of the hotel, with the Maliboomer sort of peeking out at the top. Thus it was "theme park view" I guess.

It was a slow part of the year and we successfully switched to a really splendid view of GRR, TOT, and much else.

So, unfortunately, you kind of take your chances when you request a view room. If you arrive early in the day, that's your best chance of getting switched to a better view if you don't like they one they assigned you. Even if your room isn't ready, you can ask them to point out where it is on a map. The best views are the Dream Tower, facing east, and of course the higher the better. If they've stuck you with a lousy view, and you're there early enough, you can request to be moved, and they may accommodate you.

I would probably not spend the money if on a limited budget. And, the last two times I have stayed there, just requested a standard room, but always got a better one at check in, for the same price. But, I do tend to avoid peak season times.
