If you are looking for your child to have some adulthood memories of the trip, you should probably wait until he is 4 or 5. But if YOU want to have memories of the trip when he is younger than that, virtually any time is fine.

Do you ever hear anyone saying "Well, junior will only be 9 months this year, so I think we will skip Christmas this year and wait for a couple of years until he will remember what goes on"?

Of course not. Those early years aren't about creating memories for your baby. They are about you creating memories of occasions of your baby with you. Frankly, whether your child ever has any memory of the event or not doesn't really make a rat's ass of difference.

If you have enjoyed the experience of having your child with you during an early-years trip to Disney, that is all that makes any difference.

I waited until my youngest was seven before taking the kids to WDW. That was the right age for me. That doesn’t mean it is the right age for you.

Take the trip when it will mean the most for YOU!!

It doesn't really matter to me. As we continue to visit the parks in the future, he is bound to start remembering sooner or later.

I would love to learn more about this, since we figured one of us would always have to miss the ride... thanks!!

The cast member will then hand you a laminated card w/babyswap on it. One parent, say mom, goes and stands in line like normal, if you have a fast pass use it, if not, well, not. Dad waits with the kids at the exit. Then when Mom exits Dad takes the babyswap card shows it to the cast member at the entrance. That cast member will wave you through and show you where to go to shorten your line waiting. At some point a cast member will take your card and Dad will get to ride with very little waiting in line. Some rides babyswap works great, they send you in the exit and you get right on. On some it works fine, it's just like a free fast pass (so mom and dad can both get a fast pass and only Mom has to use hers, so the next time around you can use Dad's.)

They generally prefer that kids too small to ride the ride don't wait in the line. However, on rides such as Gadgets Go Coaster that you 4yr old *may* be able to ride, babyswap gives her a free ride. There is no cast member in front. All of you stand in line. At the front you point out the six month old to the cast member. Then Dad rides with the 4yr old while Mom holds the baby. The train comes back into the station, your 4yr old stays in her seat, Mom and Dad switch off the baby and Mom sits down with your daughter, giving the little girl two rides in a row!

However, not to fear, all four of you can do lots of them together. The baby swap rides are more the exception than the rule.

For me all 3 of my kids were 3 years old for the first time. My mom took me to DL for the first time when I was 6 weeks old.

No matter what, you'll a wonderful time.
