I just never was a Janis fan. Sure, she was passionate in her singing and her life, but her voice was a bit much for me.

My favorite from the early '70s would probably be "Walls & Bridges" by John Lennon. I love Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" too, but it doesn't have the same repeatability for me. :)

Well, I just bought a replacement copy. Not all the songs hold up, but there's never been a better break up song than "It's Too Late", there's the original writer's verson of "You've Got A Friend", and the piano part in "I Feel The Earth Move" is just as good as there is.

Yeah... not all of us are pushin' up daisies just yet.

"Ooooooh what a lucky man he was..."

    LOL!

Whoa! Flashback time! Midnight arguments with my older sis and her UCSB housemates about ELP vs King Crimson vs Yes

Good times. Altered times. But good ones.

    could almost go on forver

and here's my personal fave of this unbelievable era -- if you have never heard it you should...it won a Sci Fi award that year for Paul Kantner also..

Blows Against the Empire - Jefferson Starship

this is not the pop starship of the late 70's -- this is full blown Jefferson Airplane with the following 'guests' on this album:
    David Crosby
    Graham Nash
    david Freiberg
    Jerry Garcia
    Bill Kreutzman
    Mickey Hart

    and is Amazing --!!

they just released a 35th anniv edition of this remastered and some of JA is on the road touring with some of this music --

Touring or flying? I can't imagine that a bit of herbal medicines haven't been brought along.
