There's a canal that runs parallel to the train tracks, just north of the Indian village, and west of the Festival Arena. In the link you can see the black monkey/princess barges pretty clearly, and the bright green of the crocodile is also a little visible from under the trees.

Funny, since I thought I read somewhere that they took all the extra watercraft out of the water each day, and stored it on land backstage. You can see the canal that leads to the dock quite easily from the rivercraft, but the dock itself is very well hidden (maybe not so much from the train). They hide a lot of the costumes and props on the island behind the mysterious fence, but they also have quite a well equipped underground lair (from my understanding) that goes about 3 stories down, and houses most of the things needed to run the show.

It's also interesting that they always talk about the construction on the front of the island and in the viewing areas before the show initially opened, but this area never gets mentioned. Has it always been there, and if so what was it used for before all the F! came along?

Perhaps the on-island storage only holds so much and the rest of the show items are kept backstage in Critter Country?

You get to see a lot of backstage stuff, and the characters all wave to you, pretending that they're not doing the gritty work stuff. It's also kind of funny to watch Eric carry Ariel onto the barge, since she doesn't walk so well on her own.... : )
