The liner notes to "The Black Hole" reveal that this partnership with Intrada was pretty much entirely Thornton's idea as a way to finally get albums like this on to CD. He apparently cold called Doug Fake at Intrada out of the blue to propose the idea.

Intrada already had a business relationship with Disney from a number of previous released (both "Honey, I Shrunk" scores, "Something Wicked This Way Comes", and others), but those previous titles were straight licensing arrangements with Intrada then handling the album production. These recent co-branded discs are still considered to be Walt Disney Records releases, but with Intrada handling distribution, manufacturing, and marketing. In other words, Thornton is producing these albums for Intrada to release.
