Hmm, I would need to hear a sample to give a accurate response, but she should do well.. she has a nice voice known well to many and doesn't put people to sleep.

Class act too. Gives the ride some added sophistication.

Not that Walter Cronkite or Jeremy Irons are anything to sniff about. I'm just sayin'

Brilliant! The shorts-and-black-socks crowd will be right happy!

Seriously, she seems like a great choice. Immediately recognizable to the Brits. Subconsciously recognizable as a voice of credibility to English-speaking Americans.

That is so true but I suppose they could go back to the original for him. His voice has become more and more raspy in recent years. Too bad, it was the voice that everyone listened to and were in some strange way comforted by. He could tell you that an atomic bomb is planted next door and you would somehow not be worried about it. I do miss that voice but he must be about 200 by now. :)

I grew up in my Grandmother's house and as she told it they bought it from Walter Cronkite's Grandfather. Not sure it's true but my darling Granny didn't make a habit of lying to me.

I feel your pain - I was in exactly the same place when they replaced Walter Cronkite's spectacular narration ("Behold, the Sistine Ceiling!"). Still, I think Dame Judy was a terrific choice.
