I am very disappointed in them altogether!!!

If I were you and I was definitely staying at the DLH (no chance of switching to the GCH) I would make room requests in this order. 1. A renovated room. I would hate to stay at the DLH right now in a room that had not yet been renovated, with all the shiny new rooms right there. 2. A room far from any work happening right now. I am not sure if this is request-able, but I would ask, because I would hate to be in a tower with work going on in half of it because of noise and possible inconvenience if certain entrances are closed or something. 3. A high floor. Frankly, if I got a newly renovated room in a quiet area of any of the hotels, I wouldn't mind what the view was right now or which tower. A high floor would just be a bonus. If you have paid for a standard view, you could ask at check in to be upgraded to a view room, and maybe if you are having your wedding there as well they would be extra willing to try to accommodate you! I would be sure to call the front desk on the day of your arrival a few hours prior to your check in and confirm that they have your room requests, as well as reminding them that you are coming for your wedding (if that is what you were saying in your post). : )

I know it's always been Disney policy not to let you reserve a room in a particular building - as you can see from my name, I loved the original hotel and almost always stayed there but it was never guaranteed - but they never even bothered to tell DS and soon to be DD about the construction and giving no help about the room is carrying the "no guarantees" policy to the limit. No other business could get away with this lack of customer service. At least they would give couples who are getting married at their facilities the best available rooms. But not Disney. You're on your own.

I agree that it seem as if they should get some sort of special consideration seeing as it is their wedding and they are booking it with Disney Wedding planning. It sucks that they can't guarantee anything, but I have always had really good results by making clear requests and then calling an hour or two before my arrival and speaking with whoever is working. I am sure that sometimes this doesn't work (hence the no guarantee) but so far I have had really good results getting what I request. To go way out on a limb, I have a feeling that the people working at the front desk (who I think have the ability to do a lot about rooms) will probably want to do whatever they can to show your son and his fiancé a great trip. Would they mind if you called for them a few hours before their arrival to remind the front desk of whatever you might wish to request? You could then also remind the front desk about the fact that they are coming to get married, and if they have the ability, (i.e. they aren't swamped beyond their control) I bet the front desk staff will do whatever they can to give them a great wedding trip. That's just a guess on my part, but I am a positive thinker, and I really have had great results with the front desk staff at the Disneyland Resort.
