They even stopped selling tickets to get into Disneyland that day - I was only able to get in because I had mine already. In any case, with the substantial investment I'll be putting out for WDW, I am wary of this scenario again. Has anyone been there the first couple days following New Years? We would fly in on New years Day and stay 7 days. Thanks in advance for any advice!

We definietly noticed the marathon crowds on the first two days, but the rest of the week was fine. I have done Disneyland in January before and it was much less crowded than WDW was, but I think that is pretty normal. We have already purchased our plane tickets to go at the same time next year. However, this time we are going before the marathon is because I guess it is a week later next year. Now all we have to do is pick a resort to stay at and we are all set.
