Almost like a movie script...first he makes it look easy, smashing record after record. Then, he gives us a little scare. But don't worry, it all worked out in the end (and though 6 wouldn't have been accomplishment enough lol, I need to get some damned exercise, I feel ashamed!).

    Unbelievable, this guy!

Plus, it's cool they did it I think because now there's no hint of a question mark hanging over this incredible accomplishment.

    Yep.

Assuming that it's the US standard of HD video (which is the fastest framerate in a broadcast format), it runs at 60 fields per second. Phelps won by 1/100 of a second. There was a good chance that the video didn't even pick up who touched first, and it appears that's exactly what happened. Plus, even the NBC guys conceded that the difference might have been more due to the speed Phelps hit the sensor rather than actually getting to it first.

If I'd've been the Serbian officials, I'd've done the same thing. Nothing to lose.

(Yes, I have a video engineering background, why do you ask? Now back to your regularly scheduled topic.)

As it was, they came off looking a little like whiners trying to "spoil the glory", but hey...gotta earn em. That's why it's so tough, and why Phelps is so incredible.

Besides going for all time Olympics records all over the place, it's worth noting that his competition this year is particularly fierce. He EARNED his place, that's for sure!
