The Disney Parks Blog discusses the menu at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland and the stories behind them. And inside the article is this tidbit:

And just for dinner, select wines and beers will be offered that complement the French-inspired cuisine.

“As part of the overall theming, we wanted to offer wine that enhances the guest experience and complements the French-inspired cuisine,” says Stuart McGuire, Beverage Director, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The wines focus primarily on France’s famous wine-growing regions, including Champagne, Alsace, Loire, Rhone, Burgundy and Bordeaux.

“We’ll also offer the leading French beer, Kronenbourg 1664,” says McGuire. “And, staying in the general region, we’ll also offer Belgian beers.”

This is the first time a restaurant in a United States Magic Kingdom (meaning the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland) will service alcohol in a public restaurant (Club 33 at Disneyland is not open to the public). Be sure to check out the article for info on what sounds like a great menu. But we'd like to hear your opinion on this change after 57 years.

Everything I've read about the food sounds like it will be top-notch, but I'm still doubtful that this place will be everything it's been made out to be.

Has there been any word to whether they will begin introducing alcohol to other locations? I could see them offering it at other table service restaurants, but staying away from the counter service and ODV places, just to be safe

Not yet, but it's coming. They've been doing studies on this for YEARS. I heard about alcohol going into MK after the FLE in 2010.

    LOL.

Well, well, well, I finally have a legitimate reason to spend time in Fantasyland. While the rest of you are lamenting the closure of Snow White's Scary Adventures and signing petitions to bring back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, I'll be paring wine with a delicious meal at the Be Our Guest Restaurant.

At least it sounds as though there will be some sort of monitoring taking place at this new restaurant.

Just looked online at theadult and children's menus. Nice! OK, I'll definately be trying this place!

Hong Kong and Tokyo also follow the US model: no alcohol served in the MK-style parks. TDS serves alcohol at table service, counter service, a beer stand, and has two full-service bars in the park, but does not allow you to leave the point of purchase and walk around with it.

I wonder what will be done in Shanghai?
