I mean, I think maybe a bottle of wine would be nice, BUT I know NOTHING of wines and don't even know what dollar range to get into in order to make sure it's a GOOD wine, ya know?

Soooooooo, a little help here, please, my lovely LPers! I really like Tom (super nice dude) and don't want to be scared off of giving him a gift just because he's worth so much more than I am, nor do I want to screw up and give him bad wine or cheap wine if I do end up settling on a bottle of wine.

Hmmm, maybe a nice Port instead? I dunno... soooo confused! lol

But depending on how well you know this guy and how much effort you want to go to, perhaps a framed copy of the playbill or a show poster? Or maybe even a significant page from the script? I once received something similar, and everyone had signed the matte (mat? You know, that border thingie around a picture or print), and it meant the world to me.

My advice? Just be yourself and get something for "Tom - Super Nice Dude" not "Tom - The Rich Guy".

Oh! I just got an idea. brb

Here's a site that a quick and dirty search found

    <a href="http://www.party411.com/custom-labels.html#custom" target="_blank">http://www.party411.com/custom

Maybe you have a little creative shop where you are that could do something unique to the show for ya?

Not sure how long it would take to ship but just a thought.

    Good luck and have fun!

I like Litter's idea but don't tell her.

If you do go the wine route, keep in mind that not everyone enjoys port. If you know he does then you can comfortably go that route. Otherwise go with wine.

Stop in at your local wine shop. If for some reason, you don't have one in town then check out an upscale grocery store; they usually have a wine expert on staff.

Explain your situation. Give them a price range. A good bottle of wine can be had for as little as $15 to $20. The key is to finding the right one. The wine shop owner or expert can offer you lots of choices.

If you don't know your friend's tastes--red or white, cabernet or chardonnay--then defer to the wine expert. Have them show you several bottles. Choose the one that appeals to *you*. It might be the name of the wine, or the label, or where it was bottled. Something will stand out that appeals to you; trust your own judgement.

They make some really interesting wine bottle wraps and bags to present your wine in.

If you have tickets studs from the show they could go on there as well, maybe on inside of the lid for opening night. Or put the cast and crew on the inside of the lid.

When one of my dearest friends got married, our goal was to help them start their wine cellar. They collect wines and, in fact, are in the process of opening their own winery. I love wine, but didn't know what to pick out for them. I went to a local wine shop and told the person working my delima. He asked my budget, one bottle or a few, red or white, then did the selection for me. I was very comfortable that I was gifting good wines.
