What decisions does your spouse make (men or women) without your consent?

Maybe it was a big decision in the past, maybe lots of little decisions like what brand of ketchup to buy, maybe you just don't have any say whatsoever, ever, ever.

    Come on now. Confess...

For me, and as an example, my wife took it upon herself to name 5 out of our 6 kids without any input from me whatsoever. I swear, women just don't know their place anymore!

It works well... we've been married 29 years.

P.S. Guys... don't tell anyone but go for the deal if you can get it. There won't always be kid decisions to make, but there will ALWAYS be money decisions to make!!

I know... I was just having a little fun. You can usually do pretty well with your money decisions by using a spreadsheet and the advice you get from a financial planner.

That doesn't quite work for kids. What to do with kids is really rather unknowable to most guys although DVC_dad seems to have tuned in to it somehow. I let my wife make most of the decisions concerning the kids because she was infinitely better at it than I would ever have been.

Must be tied in with having breasts or something...

Any small things to do with the house/shopping etc. are Sarah's decisions with my feedback.

With major financial plans, I draft them and run them past Sarah.

And with the kids. well whatever one parent says first, we stand by each other (then maybe have a quiet chat after the kids go to bed if we do not see eye to eye.

Overall, we share decisions and I hope in doing this I have a long happy marriage to look forward to.

Yes it is true we make all decisions jointly IF possible.

When I went to look at my now car the garage had someone else wanting it at the same time and I had a really hard time making the decision alone as although I new I liked and wanted the car, and it would mainly be my car to replace the one I crashed I still so wanted Dave's input, luckily the Garage was owned by good friends of ours so I new that they would not be selling it too me if it was a lemon so I did make the sale and the guys let the other buyer down. They still let Dave test it out a few days latter to be sure.

Dave will tell you I feel guilty about spending money except for Groceries or childrens clothes unless I have discussed it with him first and he usually runs things by me on his cell if he is shopping for somthing none esential and I am not with him too. The joke is before I go out shopping if he stays home that I have to make sure he knows where the phone is before I go for when I call him.

Of course, my wife carries the belt.

We make all of our major financial decisions together. Since she is a stay-at-home mom she sometimes feels compelled to ask me before she spends money on discretionary items but I don't feel like she needs to ask and I don't recall ever saying no.

Neither of us is extravagant but I tend to be the more impulsive of the 2 of us. I usually back down if she gives me *the look*.
