Socializing and college orientation

    I'm starting college this Fall which means... Freshman orientation...

    I got a confirmation letter from the school about it... and they had a schedule of the days, orientation is two days long... and they have social events planned... they, in actuality, have an event called "social"...

    I'm not someone to go up to a person in real life and start a conversation with someone I don't know...

    So... I was just wondering if people had any tips on like how to service being put into awkward social situations... that would be cool...
