I thought Marty summed Sam up so well. I had the privilege to meet him and his family on numerous occasions and he was always a pleasure to talk to.

Matty is a former Imagineer himself having developed amongst other things the rockwork surrounding Sleeping Beauty Castle at EuroDisneyland (if I recall correctly).

Nice to see a lot of people turned out to recognise the talent of his remarkable imagineer. Also a fair number of the current crop too.

I remember the first time I met him many years ago and how he said that we had something in common. When I asked what it was he replied, "Our name." When I said I didn't understand he smiled, chuckled a little and told me that his full name was John Samuel McKim. However, when he was a little boy everyone called him Sammy so it just stuck and he became simply Sam McKim.

Sammy, Sam, or John- doesn't matter was his name was, he had a heart of gold and a ready smile and friendly greeting for everyone he met. I'm so glad he finally got the recognition he earned and deserved. Well done, Sam!

Next time I am at the park, I will give a respectful nod when I see Sam's window.
