Space Mountain at DL was found to have some serious structural problems and was closed to be completly rebuilt. The mountain was completely gutted and the new track and effects were built from the ground up. Although the new track was built with the exact same layout as the old track, several changes were also installed. A new soundtrack was created. New lighting and visual effects were added. They also installed alternate sound and visual effects to create the infamous Rockin' Space Mountain. The alternate "show" was first switched on for Grad nights last year and eventually for the general public up until April of this year when it was turned off and SM was retured back to the normal version. I'm sure if you search back through the archieves you can find more detailed descriptions of the changes installed into SM.
