I'm guessing I can download one off the internet, but don't know for sure. Any helpful hints for the IPOD challenged. I plan on getting familiar with it this weekend when I have more time. Is it best to use ITunes to download music or can I use CD's I already have?

This site should work for you, tapdancemom... It's an Apple iPod, yes?

I love iTunes and have bought the cash cards at Target... Perfect for those individual songs you want, but don't want to buy the whole CD they're on.

I also uploaded a BUNCH of stuff from my CDs... You can do it all with iTunes... Great program! :)

That sounds fun -- where do you send it? What's it going to look like?

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

When you find a piece of music on iTunes, you click the button, pay 99cents, and that music is now part of your iTunes collection.

Then, you connect your iPod to your computer, and iTunes helps you download your music to your iPod.

    iPod then plays the music.

I'm not trying to talk to you like you're a three-your-old, but if someone had explained the simplicity of the whole system to me, I'd have 'gotten it' a bit faster.

She's had her own ipod shuffle for a year but I can tell she is gunna try to weasel in on mine ;)

I will use it mostly for planes trips basically. I will let DD barrow it when we are on long drives.

I've never even heard of "Ephod" I will have to look into that. I am not ready for it yet, but someday a custom paint job sounds cool! DD says I should buy a case/cover and some sort of screen protector. I've seen other people with skins that cover their ipods, I'm not sure if I want that just yet.

Alex: in response to #2. Here are a few things you might look into. First is a microphone (that can be used as a stereo line is as well)

The second is a device to basically use your ipod as a DVR.

    Ok next: Jim in Merced....
The painting is done by a company called colorware.

    <a href="http://www.colorwarepc.com/" target="_blank">http://www.colorwarepc.com/</a>

you can choose what portion to paint as what...(they also do a whole host of mac products and sell corporate branded or painted Dells.)
I chose a candy apple front with a carbon wheel. I am leaving the back chrome but am going to have that redipped when I get it back at a buddies shop.

You can also get accessories painted....

    which leads to Big Thunder.

you can send in your dock and headphones to be painted as well to match or by themselves.

The current dock I have is the Atech iDUO. It is a dock plus a USB 2.0 card reader. It supports 10 formats of cards as well as s-video out and line-out for the ipod as well as the sync cable. The downside is that if you want to use both functions it is 2 cables but very handy if you are running out of desk space and love docks. (as I do.....Ipod, Palm, cell, mouse...etc)

The black cable I made myself with alot of patience, car primer and black appliance enamel(sp?).

<<I've seen other people with skins that cover their ipods, I'm not sure if I want that just yet.>>

If your pod is black, GET IT!!!!! AND GET IT NOW!!!!!!

otherwise in about 10 days it will look like crap.

    I recommend this site:
    <a href="http://www.shieldzone.com/" target="_blank">http://www.shieldzone.com/</a>

ok thats it for now. Hope that helps. Oh and one more things. Get a large harddrive. I recently moved all of my misc music and video collections onto 2 external HDD. I have 580gb of music and it is growing greatly. its been fun labeling, organizing and getting the album artwork. I have a dock at home for my computer, a dock for each TV in the house and one at work. I also have the iPod controller in the car and when my new head unit comes in, I will be able to do the video in the car.

iTunes has grown up quite a bit. Alot of the problems/concerns I had with it in the past have gone away. Save on. When it burns a CD it still wont do CD Text. Something minor but very annoying to me.

BTW: the doc I have with the TVs in my house is the DLO HomeDock Deluxe
    <a href="http://www.dlo.com/products/homedoc_dx_Prod.tpl?command=showpage&cart=116175099410605248" target="_blank">http://www.dlo.com/products/ho
    medoc_dx_Prod.tpl?command=showpage&cart=116175099410605248</a>

It gives you onscreen control of your ipod in audio mode as well as the ability to play videos and pictures on the screen. I have it routed through my home theatre systems so I get great sound (well as great as the iPod produces anyways, its no DVD-Audio or SACD recording.) It also has a remote which is a bonus.

    Hope that helps.

It seems like such a small thing to add. Not sure what apple is waiting on.
