That said, I have installed SW's "Ding" on my computer, but there do not seem to be any sales to SoCal from Denver. They did once have a $34 one way to Vegas, but that would then involve renting a car and driving 4+ hours, so I quickkly gave up on that.

Has anyone had any luck using "Ding"?

If you're partial to flying Southwest, sign up for their weekly e-mail specials in addition to using Ding! Since you live in Denver, you should also sign up for Frontier's e-mail updates too.

That is the plan (to drive).

Already done as well. Unfortuntately those fares are for extended weekend trips (Friday-Monday) only. Frontier does have sales ocassionally.

Anyway, the hope was to get super RT cheap airfare to SoCal (>$150). I am beginning to believe that it won't happen for this trip. Good thing our car is big and comfy.

Not "amazing", but not bad either.

I actually bought airfare from Denver to Las Vegas a few weeks ago($47 each way). Will rent a car there an drive the rest of the way. Beats driving across the Rockies in the spring, when the weather is very unpredicable.
