Spirit of Aloha is more like a luau and the food is also good. Either one is a good first night experience.

If you have kids along, go with the Hoop... they will enjoy it more and it has a kid-friendly menu. To me, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, baked beans and corn on the cob is something you can get in ANYWHERE USA... not what I go to WDW for. But the kids will like it.

Spirit of Aloha feels more sophisticated and elegant -- more adult and romantic. Most youngsters under 13 are probably going to get bored.
