While the area does look more generally pleasant than before, it doesn't look much like an early 20th century locale. The shapes on the pizza building are more reminiscent of it's a small world's facade than anything of that era, and the paint scheme seems to not make much sense from any era's standards.

That said I actually am looking forward to checking it out, and having more quick service food options in that park, since they seemed very limited the last 9 months.

On Han's second photo, check out the girl selling snacks out of the portable stand around her neck. I've seen pictures of these people popping up. Apparently they use to be just walking around before World of Color, but it appears they are expanding their presence?

There are several shaded eating areas which is really nice. If you sit facing the Paradise Pier Hotel you will see that the colors of the buildings blend perfectly with the hotel.

I recall this as well, but it seems like that name was dropped some time in late '09/early '10. Since that time, there has been no reference to the words 'beer garden' in any of the promo materials, and no explaination of why it was quietly dropped. I suspect it was causing confusion for people who didn't really know what a beer garden is, who were thinking they were trying to turn it into a giant outdoor bar. Looking at those photos, the area definitely feels like a beer garden, even if they don't call it that.

Also, based on the pictures, the area really does look a lot better than I had expected from construction photos. I'm really starting to be excited about having a chance to check it out. Does anybody know if there is still seating inside the pizza building? I didn't see any in the photos, but that's a huge building to only have food service counters and cash registers (especially since they expanded it in the redo).

This area looks so nice. It's one of those areas that really make you miss the parks and set Disney aside from anything else we ever get to do, in my opinion.

I'm curious to find out what the "moving billboards" are like, and if they and the other cosmetic changes make the ride more enjoyable than it was. I found it fun, but expendable - not really any different than other Mack mice of its type (same for PW in AK - I've been on other spinning mice as well).

Most of all, I hope they covered up the ground somehow - the worst aesthetic sin of Mullholland, IMO.

I think Beer Gardens aren't very common in the US. Most people associate them with Germany and so they wouldn't expect them in a Boardwalk area. I'm from a country where beer gardens are found everywhere and I think that it looks a bit like a real one.

there is also a side-by-side video out there too which makes you realize how meh MM really was. GSS isn't wonderful, but its worlds better then before

a). Cover up the sand pit. I mean, really.

b). Have another audio cue or two, instead of just the one at the end (safety thing). Certainly they could have had one while going up the hill with Goofy "teaching" you something about flying. And at one of the tight turns, even just the famous "goofy scream" at some point would work.

c). If they didn't enclose it, they still could have put up a roof with perpendicular extensions downward for the higher hairpin section (think of a "shoebox top") with more sky and clouds on both the top and interior sides that would have done a better (and cheap) job of "enclosing" at least the high section, so you're looking at that instead of Katella motels.
