I realize you're going at a very busy time, but I decided to take a last-minute trip this weekend to DL (Oct 23-26) and I used the Name Your Own Price feature over on Priceline, and I'm staying @ the Hyatt Orange County for $45 a night!! Now I think this works best when you do it about a week away from when you're planning to go - so you have to be somewhat of a risk-taker (at least that's a risk for me, since I loooove planning things early!) but you could get an amazing rate on a great hotel. The Hyatt, for instance, has a free shuttle to the parks, and the rooms are beautiful...I'm able to go cheap AND nice! :) Just a thought...whatever you decide to do, have fun! :)

I looked at the Availablity calendar in the AP section on Disneyland.com - The Paradise Peir is available - and the DLH is available part of your trip just not all of it.

Also the park will start to get busier each day closer to Thanksgiving you get.

If your dates are flexible - the following week will be less busy...

If you check the hours for the park you can tell when they expect it to be busier. Since the park will be open to midnight the days you want to go I would say they expect it to be busier.

Okay how did you do this? Do you book a4 $45 and then they tell you what hotel you get? DO you give them your cc and then they tell you if you got the price? If you don't get the price for the hotel you want are you stuck at one you don't want?
    Help! :)
Want to take a risk(booking this way) but am a little nervous!!!

You pick where you want to go and the dates... It then has a place to click to pick your price...
    You click on that
It lets you pick the area you want (disneyland area)
Then you pick your star level - most pick 3 stars (highest for disneyland area)
Then you put in how much you WANT to pay... You do have to enter your credit card information
If your price is accepted you are given the information for your hotel. You cannot change it - it is paid for and you are set.
If they turn your price down you can alter some of your choices (starlevels or area) and try again... Or you can try for the same level in 24 hours.
Occasionally they will come back with a counter offer -- like if you are willing to go up $13 (usually the number I get) we can get you a room...

It is a risk - but if you pick 3 stars many are happy...

For me I have never paid more than $50 my rooms have been

    Hilton Suites
    Hilton (convention way)
    Marriot (convention way)
    Crowne Plaza
Holiday Inn Resort (didn't care for this - but I think it was the room was too close to the freeway)
    Courtyard by Marriot (2 stars)

RMM got the Hyatt in Oct...

If you don't mind driving to the park you can usually get a good deal at the Hampton in buena park - it's a 5 min drive - I think they have a shuttle in the morning and at closing... But you should check.. They also serve a breakfast.

Also, three days prior would be an important time because older DLH reservations could be canceled until then at no cost.
