We had a good two-night stay.

Plus: Room was very clean, well-maintained, and appeared to have been recently renovated. Cable TV with usual channels and features. Small restaurant and lounge in lobby, in keeping with HI standards. Nice outdoor pool and spa (very popular). Coffee maker in room.

Minus: No room refrigerator, microwave, or mini-bar.

Hotel advertises itself as being "one-block" from Disneyland. The Holiday Inn is actually one block from the Disney parking structure on the border of the Disneyland RESORT. It is actually 3/4 mile to the theme parks. You can take the ART shuttle (Route B, Stop 3) from the front entrance of the hotel, or walk to the Disney parking structure and take the tram, or walk to Downtown Disney (enter at ESPN Zone) and on to DL and DCA.

Given its'location, you feel like you are staying in a residential neighborhood in Anaheim, rather than the Harbor Blvd DLR feel. I'll let you decide if that's a + or -

Candy Cane Inn - great free breakfast, free private shuttle

Howard Johnsons - some rooms with balconies, indoor corridors, excellent pools/grounds, Mimi's across the street has a great menu

Carousel Inn - very easy walk, free cont breakfast

Tropicana Inn - very easy walk, large pool

If you can afford it and are interested in the Resort Hotels, well, that is another matter. Grand Californian is the closest to the parks.

They had king beds and sleeper sofa. All 3 rooms were clean. Some people have complained recently that their rooms weren't clean, but I think by and large people think it is clean. All rooms have a frig and a microwave. The frig is a little bigger than most hotel frigs- a plus when you have a lot of snacks with you. It does have a free breakfast but we weren't impressed with it- it is just easier for us to eat breakfast in the room- that way the kids can eat as soon as they get up and not wait for a parent to get dressed.

The rooms are kind of dark- kind of bugs me but I can overlook that because it is the closest hotel- except for Grand Californian. It is right across the crosswalk. That is big for us because a lot of the time I go back to the hotel in the afternoon with our youngest and my husband will stay with the other boys. But then the oldest will decide that he wants to come back to the hotel and I feel comfortable with him walking back by himself- or it's close enough he'll walk one of his brothers back to the hotel- especially since he has a cell phone and tell me to expect them ( he is 13 now, was 12 when we did this).

Also, when we were there last March, my dad had a heart attack. My family had to extend their stay by a week until he could travel home- a very busy week ( Easter week). The hotel staff was great. They let them stay in their rooms as long as they needed at a discounted rate. They also gave them recommendations of several restaurants off the beaten path that were good priced and really good.

I've always found it to be clean and well maintained. Rooms are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. Two bedded rooms are available, and I'm guessing they're queens. Don't know about the closest Starbucks.

The biggest selling point for the BWPPI is location. First "off-site" motel across the S Harbor crosswalk to the DLR entrance. We appreciate that at closing time. Their spa and a cold beer have brought me back to life on more than one occasion. Some people find the pool to be on the "small side", but I've yet to see a kid that isn't happy to be playing in it.

I've heard complaints about the showers. Ours appeared to be recently renovated. A bowed shower curtain rod had been added to give some extra elbow room, and a gooseneck outlet raised the
    height about 6".

Only downsides I can confirm are that parking can be tight, and the garbage trucks are audible.

Our last room, 109, was right across the driveway from Captain Kidd's backdoor. I was disappointed with our room assignment after 5 previous visits. I did sleep well and the noise was minimal.

And one of my very favorites: exclusive, free shuttle to and from Disneyland.

For anyone looking at the hotels on Harbor across from DL, you cant really go wrong with any of them on that stretch from HOJO to BWPPI but I would have to say that BWPPI was our least favorite.

The rooms were kind of dark and depressing and the pool was not only small but located in the parking lot where you get the pleasure of breathing exhaust and garbage bins. Its only 1-5 minutes longer to walk furthur down Harbor to any of the other places. Plus the way these hotels are shaped lengthwise away from the road your room placement can make a difference of a few minutes anyway. Hope that makes sense ;)

Someone correct if this is wrong but order of closeness from the crosswalk is this:

    Best Western PPI
    Tropicana Inn
    Carousel Inn & Suites
    Park Inn
    Fairfield (Marriot)
    HOJO (only one offering ART)

Fairfield is near I-5. We were roomed in the back of the property on the 7th floor, which put us closer to the freeway. The "white noise" did bother me, and they moved us the next day to the Harbor Blvd side. Liked the Harbor side much better. They asked me if I was a "light sleeper", but moved us anyway. As always - "YMMV", your mileage may vary...

Fairfield Inn--hard to open/unlock door, open corridors that may be unsafe for young children, very uncomfortbale beds but that was right before they replaced all their beds.

Disneyland Hotel-- fun, comfy, but pricey

Best Western Park Place Inn-- dark rooms, did not like pool location, free breakfast was icky, liked the location

Hojo's-- have stayed three times and LOVE it! Going again in just 6 days for a solo trip YEAH!! I feel at home here with the very nice staff, clean rooms, comfy beds and well kept grounds.
