Was the last 'superband' of the time that I had to see.

Well as I awoke to the clock radio to go to work the next day- sniffling and still cold I hear the announcer say something about Led Zeppelin 'guitarist' Keith Moon died overnight. Well I thought I was just hallucinating or something since of course he was a drummer etc... but it turned out to be true. All I have left is a letter from the Chicago Stadium that accompanied my $32 refund ( 2 tix by the way ) -

I saw both tours of Page and Plant and they were excellent.... and saw Plant in Chicago for his Soundstage show...

but this would be a must for me....I am still cranky over the fact that Cream did not at least extend their reunion to a major cities tour -- so I am not holding out much hope....but if they do decide to tour...my ticketbroker will be very happy as I will be up close.

Oh, and his son Jason Bonham will be filling in on the 26th of November, which I think is way cool.

As for the Hard Rock park, I have been totally tracking it since the beginning. The Zep coaster looks great!

Do you think this'll be videotaped and released on DVD? I'd like to buy it legally but I'm not opposed to a bootleg if it comes to it :) I thought the Page/Plant tours were great.

no I knew that, it was the news guy - which is why I thought he was soo wrong I must be dreaming or hallucinating - wrong band - wrong instrument etc -- unfortunately it did turn out Bonzo died and the tour was canceled.

for $250 each I'd be all over it - it's the few thousand more it would cost me to come and go I can't convince the wife it is worth it.

I tried the same argument for Cream at RAH-- didn't win that one either.

Not at all. Hendrix we haven't been able to have as great a body of work to compare. I feel Clapton is not god, but slightly overrated. But I love Page.

Zep needs to take a close look at this and gauge - one short tour at about $3M a show

    No.

Although not a perfect formula I look at the bands sound - and for many bands it's the lead singer & lead guitar that form the main sound.

One can certainly argue cases for Bonham and Jones - and ( and Moon and Entwistle) - but the main sound for me is Page / Plant.

Seeing them on tour twice it was awfully close to Zeppelin - just shy IMHO. Either of the other members would put them over the top - and obviously only one is available.

If you see Daltry and Townsend - it will be real close. I got to see the who, but with Kenny Jones having already replaced Moon -- it would have been nice to have Moon also - but to me it was still the Who.

Now I saw he Doors of the 21st Century 4 times in the last couple years - and I really like Manzarek and Kreiger -- ( Densmore would have been a bonus, but without Morrison -- they are not the Doors. I know, I saw the Doors in 1968.

lots of bands change many members -- Ian Anderson and Martin Barre = Jethro Tull for me. Many others come and go and come back in that band.

Zeppelin is a quandry though - for me a lot like Sabbath. The real Sabbath is Osbourne/Iommi/Butler & Ward. I have seen them so many times in so many different set ups -- and Ward likely the most interchangeable, yet you can tell the difference when not there.

That is how I view Zeppelin now-- will a true fan tell the difference - yes. For the most part is it Zeppelin - mostly yes.

Legally, yes, since they own the name, but in my (not so humble) opinion, no. I wish they'd call themselves "Daltrey/Townshend" or something, but I guess they wouldn't sell as many tickets.

According to one book I read, the Who actually considered reincorporating themselves as "The New Who" after Moon died. The New Who would have been Daltrey, Townshend, Entwistle, Kenney Jones, Andy Fairweather-Low on rhythm guitar, and John "Rabbit" Bundrick on keyboards.

    >>How many orignal members have to be alive for it to be considered that band?<<

There are some 50's and 60's acts playing state fairs without *any* original members. One member after another dies or retires and is replaced, and eventually you've got a whole new band with the same old name.
