HK Government may sell controlling stake in HKDL

    I agree. Why would a government want to be in the theme park business? I think HK wanted the park to boost tourism and realized that it could not be built without their participation.

    To a certain extent the plan to sell <<at an appropriate time when it is in the overall economic interests of Hong Kong to do so>> shows optimism in the future of the park. They obviously think that they will be able to at least break even on their initial investment when they sell.

    So? Two different things and two totally different agreements. Without more information it's impossible to tell exactly what the HK government's motives are in either case.

    I find it hard to believe that Ocean Park is a non-profit. Or does that just mean that the money that the park earns is rolled into the government's revenues?

    The Communist government of China has nothing to do with HKDL, Ocean Park, or pretty much anything else in Hong Kong. You need to check your facts a bit more.
