I have never eaten at the Big Thunder BBQ so I cannot possibly compare the two. I have to choose one or the other so I would sure appreciate any input you all have to share.

The food is all you can eat at the Ranch....and we like the ribs better than the chicken....they also have desserts that are good (they cost extra...as do drinks also)... We ate there at nite...so, I did notice the menu was not the same as the lunch menu.....I think just 2 things were different... But, for sure....make reservations for both places. While waiting for our tables (at both places)....I watched families being turned away over and over..for not having a reservation. Have fun!

But if we dine at both places the first day then on the 2nd day we can "play it by ear". Sure appreciate your input!

I can't recall whether I've ever eaten at BTB, but probably not more than once, and certainly not since they went to "family style." I don't share your husband's enthusiasm for barbecue, at least not in that sense of the term (now, hamburgers or steak, grilled slowly over charcoal, or "Mongolian Barbecue" [which is really neither Mongolian nor Barbecue, but "Taiwanese Teppanyaki" isn't nearly so catchy a name], I really CAN get into.)

A little disappointed but it is not as if there is lack of great food at DL I did not realize that BTBB was family style so it is probably just as well.
