The DLR locals really do seem to go crazy for any little thing that changes (though without the good manners and patience of the TDR locals), to the point that it becomes a detriment to other people in the parks. I suppose most of the people who were there for the 24-hour event knew what they were getting into, but I feel bad for the out of town guests who just happened to pick that weekend (Memorial Day...big travel weekend, right?) and didn't fully understand what they were getting themselves into

This article for me came from a place of "I'm going to show how hip I am by being totally above this place." It was lazy cynicism too often, dismissing the new nighttime spectaculars as little changed from their predecessors (which, based on what I've seen, isn't at all true), and dismissing well loved attractions with the likes of "robotic parrot show." If you don't like the place, fine. I wouldn't have liked the madhouse that that event sounded like myself. But I get tired of people trying to prove their hipness by dumping on what other people enjoy.

Sometimes a reality check is needed even if your passion comes from a good place. I try to never take this stuff to seriously becaise DL is supposed to be fun, not something to constantly analize and obsess over. As the article points out there are a lot of park fans who from a certain perspective have questionable judgment. Hey, if someone wants to stand in 90 minute line for the Matterhorn at 3am more power to them. My love for DL has its limits.

And some of those people have annoyed me at the parks more than once. I guess what I'm saying is that the author took a "hipper than thou" and "can you believe people actually like this twaddle" attitude about DL in general, not just the obsessive fans.
