Its NOT everyones cup of tea, but if you like to loosen up, have a few beers and enjoy the music you will probably like it.

About time we got there, the music was still playing and bars still set up but the DJs were gone . But yeah, I really liked it. This is kind of my thing anyway. And difference is being at Disney I dont have to worry about any fighting or arrests at the places I usually go to . But I plan to go back of course and get there earlier to experience the full thing. Its something fun and different for a few weeks.

We hung out in the HB during the first WOC showing to wait for the Food Truck to open up and see what the Glow Fest was all about. Glowing tables were a nice touch.

Its nice to see the young kids out there enjoying themselves.

We only knocked over one ODV cart. And I'm sure that little girl's sweatshirt won't smell like beer anymore once it's run through the washer.

I saw that YouTube video you linked to, and it looks like it would be even more fun when there's a lot of people there dancing the streets, rather than just a few. I have two more nights at the resort, and I'll try to make it over there during prime time.

I got there maybe right at the beginning of my return window, which meant 10pm for the 11:15pm show. Although I was about half-way back in the Yellow section as far as the line went, when I actually got to the section, I found out that almost nobody opted for the boardwalk, but instead they started filling from the 2nd tier and back. So, the 2nd and 3rd tiers were full, so I had the option of the 4th (or 5th) tier, or the very front. So, to do the opposite of what we did last night, I chose front and center, against the railing right in front of the lagoon on the boardwalk. I did invest in a $6.50 Disney poncho, but it probably wasn't all that necessary. It was a totally different show, seeing it from the very front as opposed to the very back. For one, there are actually TWO layers of mist projection screens - I had completely missed this the first time when viewing from the performance corridor. Also, being right against the railing, I could see the water-level misting, fogging, as well as many of the devices that were used to create the show, which were very interesting to this engineer's mind.

It was bright, tacky, and really took away from what little atmosphere that area of the park had. Neither of us are really into the clubbing scene, so we figured that we would have no interest in it. It just looked like they needed to rename the area the West Hollywood Pictures Backlot, since it was just way too over the top. On the way out after the first WOC, we stopped by to check it out. It was amazing. There's no better way to describe it. They managed to turn that entire part of the park into a club, and make it really fun. It was entirely family-friendly, yet you wouldn't feel out of place at all after a couple drinks. There was a ton of energy, and lots going on. We noticed that we were not the only ones walking around there with our mouths literally hanging open from the shock of how good it was. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to create the ultimate party/rave atmosphere in the park, and still have it completely apprpriate and family-friendly. It's one of the most interesting combinations I've ever seen. We wanted to stay and grab a drink or two (both bars in the middle of the street had pretty long lines, BTW), but we were just too tired from being in the parks since a few hours before they officially opened. I don't know if there was a larger crowd because the first WOC had just ended, or if it was like that all night, but it seemed to be a pretty good size. It was busy enough that you didn't feel awkward, but not so busy that you couldn't walk around. We didn't see too many people dancing out by the gogo platforms, but we did notice a lot of people just sort of moving to the beat where they were. My one concern is that they are able to keep the energy up all summer. It seems like the kind of thing that would be really easy to burn out on quickly as a performer, so I don't know how accurate the energy levels on the first night were. It was busy, but not packed, and it was opening night on a weekend. I hope that they are able to keep a decent number of people back there on weeknights, since it would feel a little rediculous if it was empty. I've heard that there were some features that weren't ready for opening night, and they will gradually be phased in once they're set up (some were added last night), so that should help. My friend and are already making plans to come back, specifically for Glow Fest, and we're not really the target audience for it. We enjoyed WOC, but this is what we're really looking forward to for the summer. I'm predicting that WOC will be a success, but that this will be the sleeper hit of the summer. Sadly, I expect that will mean HPB will get the neon treatment every year, but it might just be worth it.
