It seems to be more of a space than a weight issue normally. >Space Mountain can be difficult for some people, especially if they're tall.< Yes, yes it can. Even newer ride designs don't seem to realize that a good chunk of people are now taller than 5'10"

The last stop before you stop the ride checks that via computer and then you will be taken to a side room where a cast member will make it all better. As long as you fit, you can ride, you just might not be able to pick your seat.

Other rides don't have a guest weight limit, but a total ride limit. Space Mountain and Pirates are two that can have issues with too many large people in one area at once. (Pirate boats will "hang up" before the drop. Other Disney websites have had meets where they intentionally try to "sink" a boat with weight.)

It was the only time I was on POTC and worried... I wondered how they might go about getting the weight more evenly distributed. Excuse me sir, we are running a test... could you sit on this side? I'm no pixie, not being rude... but it had me wondering...

Space seems to be more a height issue. I lost 60 lbs and my knees are still the limiting factor. I fit, but my knees are right up against the front. Disney does a great job of accommodating all types of folks. My advice, got to DL, avoid Legoland.

I agree that a lot of people are overweight, heck, I'm one of them, and ya, a lot of people use those chairs more for convenience that real need. But even if we were all in shape, there would be issues with rides at some parks.

My DH is one who is on medications that make him "balloon" up.

But anyways those are the people I think that people are judging.
