I really hope this refurb doesnt change the ride experience.

But hell, I still prefer the pre-'78 single sleds, even though the lines were longer.

I don't believe the previous sleds had any siginificant suspension built in - just the standard wheels on three sides of the tubular track. I'm one of those tall people with long legs, and I wasn't a big fan of the double seating - either on Matterhorn or the old 'Splash' logs. Tall people are also heavy people, and we're forever consigned to the back of the vehicle, with people we're not necessarily intimate with being placed between my legs. With the new 'Splash' logs, there's still room on either side of the seat in front to stretch my pins out ahead - that person may still have my kneecaps under their elbows, but at least they have a backstop to lean back on. For me, the worst offenders for lack of legroom are 'Space Mountain', 'Pooh' and 'Mulholland Madness'. MM is especially bad, where it's nearly impossible to fold myself in the vehicle. Fortunately I detest that ride anyway, so it's no sacrifice to skip it entirely.
