If you get the ticket that lets you go to other parks the same day, take a trip to Animal Kingdom and go on the Kilamanjaro Safari and see the animals. My favorite are the Giraffes and the Lion sunning on the rock.

They do have a coaster there but look at it and determine if they will enjoy it.

Magic Kingdom has many childrens rides that are not too rough and the parades are great.

I used to say that it takes 2 days to see all of the Magic Kingdom but You wont be going on the rougher rides.

Country Bear Jamboree is great and they should enjoy the Bears.

Look at the Magic Kingdom website and see what is offered, you'll have a good time.

Oh, the Animal Kingdom Resort has rooms with a view of the "savanna", where the animals can be seen roaming from your windows, so if you are interested in that????????

I don't understand when parents/guardians take real young kids to Disney. It's hot, crowded, and by 3pm they are screaming with melt downs. I don't find it worth it at all for both the parents and kids to have to go through that headache. Plus they won't have any memory of going when they are older. I think when I kid turns 5 or 6 it's more appropriate to take them.

When the kids get tired or cranky, head back to the hotel for a swim/nap, let them sleep in a stroller, or play at a playground. Just don't expect a 2-3 year old to "go" from 8AM to midnight. Adjust. You'll still have a great time.

And of course be mindful that most other people don't want to hear your kids scream or want to put up with their bad behavior.

we took them to restaurants at home- and other places and they learned to behave at a young age. And while they may not remember things from when they were two - they certainly had a good time when there.
( they are now 24 and 15 and I hope they enjoy DIsney vacations when they have their own kids - regardless of age

we did not sit in a how if they were at all cranky so as not to disturb anyone else -etc.

so the generalization is quite wrong -- parenting is parenting--there are plenty of 10 - 15 year olds that their parents let them run amuk that do ruin things for others there also -- so age is not a guideline.

there are plenty of adults who act like total morons also... so again, age is not a question. Is there a top end age too when people melt down. My Mom is going with us this year- she is 74 -- too old ?

so while it was not directed at anyone - I ask that you please consider that all kids are different - all parents are different....generalizations just don't work

So I'm just telling you what I observe most of the time. Most of you have kids so it's kind of a bias opinion on both sides. Don't get me wrong, I love kids. I just see most of the time melt downs. But again, it is the parenting I do agree.

I doubt a 2 year old would care whether it stayed at Dixie landing or Grovesnor or a motel 6 out on International Drive.

right, why bring such young kids. They slow the whole party down since they need so much personal attention. 4 and older is a good rule of thumb

But mousegeezer did not say when they are going so it may not be hot and crowed

And not everyone who drinks is an obnoxious drunk, but they are the ones you notice.

If a young child is unruly, blame the parent, not the child.

One of my grown daughters freaked out at Epcot, she was screaming at the rest of us because she couldn't find her daughter. The rest of us just stared at her, she was holding her daughter in her arms. Time to stop & smell the roses.

No. But we as parents do, and some of those trips were some of the very best we have ever taken. There comes a time where a great Disney park experience ceases to be about the rides and shows (they are a part of the whole). And with the right planning for breaks, use of the baby centre, swim and nap time, it is no problem at all. Heck, our 4 year old has been to Disneyland Paris 12 times, Disneyland in California once and WDW once. She was not quite 2 when going to WDW and she was not quite 3 at Disneyland. But she loved the trips (as did we) and is my little Disney addict. My 6 year old son has been many more times, and now is a thrill seaker (in his book, Big Thunder rules).

I think WDW is better when older if it is a once in a lifetime. But for vets, any age is good (though I would argue that the smaller size of Anaheim, Paris, Hong Kong or Tokyo make them easier and more enjoyable when they are young (unless of course WDW is driveable or less than a 2 hr flight).

As for which resort, I think Animal Kingdom Lodge is a perfect choice at that age. The kids get a kick out of the animals, and as adults, there is something for us to do while the kids have a nap that is still very special.

The other options are DVC so you have use of the DVD and the spa bath when the kids are napping too.

Also, monorail resorts are good for the convenience factor (as well as the wow factor of course).

But virtually any of them are good.

And when they get bratty, we deal with it. In inside experiences, we take them out. And when they threw tantrums when younger (my eldest hated leaving the tea cups), we would leave him on the floor to thrash it out and then take him out of the park once he'd calmed down.
