But my first reaction at the photographs and descriptions? Much of the Dream Suite is, well, tacky! It seems to me they have gone way overboard here, and instead of turning it back into a gracious and elegant apartment themed to old New Orleans, they've turned it into a garish and trashy exhibit at the convention center Home Show. I'm reminded of a rather tasteless high-roller suite in a mid-range Las Vegas casino. LED light shows on the ceiling of the master bedroom? LED starfield and audio effects in the bathtub? Uh, that's kind of creepy. And it totally doesn't mesh with the old New Orleans vibe there. In fact, I can't think of any theme in Disneyland this meshes with. Not all of the changes to the Dream Suite came out badly; I do like how they've spruced up the main balcony, and some of the individual pieces of furniture and color schemes are lovely. But overall this new Dream Suite looks like it was a Honeymoon Suite designed by a drunken Victoria Gotti and her thug henchmen, rather than a family apartment decorated by the elegant Mrs. Disney and the sophisticated Dorothea Redmond. I think they went a bit too overboard on the Dream Suite.

The reporter goes in to the master bedroom and pushes the "Goodnight Kiss" button on the wall and the LED and audio effects all start swirling around the room; children laughing in the walls, disco lighting pulsing, thunderstorms crashing, starfields in the ceiling, etc., etc. Perhaps I was just expecting them to go a bit more refined and understated with this concept? Instead, it looks like they went to the Las Vegas Home Show with a blank check and got into a bidding war with the folks from Ceasars Palace. ;-) It would be fun to spend the night there, just to say you did it. But I don't think this concept is going to age well. The ultra-trendy techno stuff they included in every room will seem dated and fadish in 5 years time. My opinion only, of course.

The one little "plus" in this area is the firefly effect from the Blue Bayou added to the ornamental trees. Very cute. It's the LED disco light shows and audio tracks playing in the bedrooms that take it beyond "plussed up" and into the realm of Ceasars Palace for me.

I think that it will be fine for what it is, and when it's time comes to an end, it will probably get turned back into the gallery or office space or just an empty room.
