So without further ado I give you:

    April 1st to April 15th:
    ------------------------
    Giant
    1956
Starring: Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean
    Directed By: George Stevens
    Genre: Drama/Romance/Western
    Plot Summary:

Ambitious Texas-style scale epic that traces the rising and falling fortunes of two generations of Texans. Miscegenation, moral dissipation, racism, the oppression of women....a variety of topics are brought forth during the film's 201-minute running time. The core of the film is actually the relationship between Bick Benedict and his wife Leslie. It is through them that we follow the film's themes of generation, conflict and social change. However, it is Jett Rink whom audiences remember, particularly in the early scenes when he is striding out on his small piece of land or when he comes to tell Benedict that "my well came in big." He puts his oily hand on one of the white columns of Benedict's porch and, unemphatically crystallizes the theme of the film - the muddy thumb prints of materialism on the pillars of elegance and the coming of conflict between the aristocracy and the nouveau riche. "You should have shot that fella a long time ago," a friend says to Benedict about Jett Rink. "Now he's too rich to kill."

Ok, yes I know she's a long flick but worth it, really worth it. This is one of my all time favs. I'll talk about once some have viewed it.

    April 16th to April 30th:
    -------------------------

    Bull Durham
    1988
Starring: Kevin Costner, Susan Saradon and Tim Robbins
    Directed By: Ron Shelton
    Genre: Comedy/Drama/Sport/Romance
    Plot Summary:

"Veteran minor-league catcher Crash Davis is assigned to the Class A Durham Bulls to handle the team's star rookie, wild pitcher "Nuke" LaLoosh. Team groupie Annie Savoy romances both players, creating a comic triangle."

In honor of it being Spring and a new baseball season I chose Bull Durham. I know that might not be popular with some but there's many elements to this movie. Give it a try. I believe it's the best baseball movie along with Bang The Drum Slowly, Eight Men Out and The Natural but Bull Durham is the FUNNIEST!

Cannot wait to discuss this one...

    Happy viewing!

I might compromise and watch Bull Durham, but to be honest I don't know if I'll get through 3+ hours of Giant!!!

Trust me on this. Maybe others can chime in. It's about family, a couple, relationships and OIL.

I was just trying to indicate that I, yes me, Lisa, is going to try to watch the movies everyone suggests whether in the past I skipped it or not. LOL!

What you all chose to do is your own personal choice and I'm not gonna come kick your hukkas if you don't watch what I picked.

    Whew.

If I can find a way to watch it where I don't have to buy it I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and watch it, but I only have one rental place in my town and the selection isn't great.

I wasn't trying to offend, I'm sure my choices would not be to everyone's taste. I'd never even contemplated watching The Manchurian Candidate before and I really enjoyed that so I am open, but knowing my tastes I think I'll struggle with this!!!

I haven't tried the rental place in town yet, but considering they didn't have Indy I'm not hopeful.

The cheapest I can find to buy Giant is £7.50 ($15.00).

For that kind of money I could join a rental service. I might ask around and see if anyonme knows of any good ones!!!
